A-mei promotes her new album in Beijing

Mando-pop diva A-Mei Zhang has hit the promotion tour in Beijing for her newly-released album “Story Thief.”

Beyond “Story Thief,” A-Mei Zhang is also suggesting that another cut, “Full Name,” may well be one of the hits off her 19th album.

 

“Many netizens have shared their own stories after they listened to this song. I’ve read a lot of their comments and feel quite touched, for I believe each occurrence, no matter good or bad, would leave an emotional mark in one’s memory.”

A-Mei Zhang has made the stop in Beijing as part of her current world tour, celebrating 20 years in Mando-pop industry.

China reports increase in foreign direct investment

Foreign direct investment (FDI) into the Chinese mainland rose 9.8 percent year on year to reach 803.62 billion yuan (around 122 billion U.S. dollars) in the first 11 months, data showed Thursday.

The FDI growth was much faster than the 1.9-percent year-on-year increase registered in the first 10 months, according to data from the Ministry of Commerce (MOC).

Chinese open market operation rates up after Fed rate hike

The interest rates for China’s open market operations rose by 5 basis points Thursday, following the interest rate hike by the U.S. Federal Reserve on Wednesday.

 

The operations included 30 billion yuan (4.54 billion U.S. dollars) of seven-day reverse repos, with the interest rate up from 2.45 percent to 2.5 percent, and 20 billion yuan of 28-day reverse repos, with the rate up from 2.75 percent to 2.8 percent, the People’s Bank of China (PBOC) said on its website. China tightens supervision to promote regional balance in education

China on Thursday began a new project to tighten supervision and assessment to narrow the education gap between the east and the central and western regions, according to the Ministry of Education.

Google announced that it had established the Google AI China Center in Beijing, reports thepaper.cn.

Li Feifei, Chief Scientist of AI/ML of Google Cloud, announced the news at the Google Developer Day in Shanghai on Wednesday.

Huawei launches high end smartphone into Kenyan market

Chinese phone manufacturer Huawei, on Wednesday launched the Mate 10 Lite model into the Kenyan market as the battle for smartphone space in the country intensifies.

5 suspects arrested after Shanghai day care abuse

Five former workers at a Shanghai day care center were arrested on the charge of child abuse Wednesday, local prosecutors said.

 

The suspects have been in detention since the case was reported to the police on Nov. 8.

China, Russia conclude joint counter-terror exercises

Chinese and Russian forces concluded their joint counter-terror exercises Wednesday at a training base near Yinchuan, capital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in northwest China.
